Wow, it was another wonderful weekend.  Nick is leaving for his Mission on April 16th....after a few weeks of intensive scripture study and missionary training, he  will leave  for Siberia to teach the Gospel for TWO YEARS!!

I was priviledged once again to be with the people who have supported him and loved him for the last few years.  The people in his church community are so giving.  I can see why he is so happy.  There are so many wonderful families that have touched his life and who's lives he has touched.  Together, we celebrated this success story.  (It sure felt good to celebrate)

Over the weekend, there were many gatherings in his honor to celebrate his mission of service.  And Sunday morning was very meaningful to me as I was able to hear his testimony.  I sang "I am a Child of God" and made it through until the last word before the tears came!

Thank you, Lisa and Jay, for inviting me to stay at your home and for the impromptu lunch that you provided to his friends.  I so appreciate your kindness.  And Mark and Pam, may the Lord continue to Bless you for all you do.  Nick really loves you and so do I.   I am blessed to know you all and I am looking forward to seeing you all again in two years when Nick comes back!

Nick and I went to Antelope Island and climbed to the top so we could see the beauty of the mountains and Greater Salt Lake.   It was nice to just talk and be together.  I appreciated our time together more than anyone will know.

He will be missed by everyone while he is away, but we all know that God will have his Hand wrapped around him.  He is going back to his home country to do some good with the blessings of many people who care.  I love you Nickolas.

      Another reason to celebrate

Earlier this week a Russian born student came into my work area. I noticed her accent and asked where she was from. Russia. We continued about what part she came from. I shared where another student I'd met came from. She blurted out - Oh, you are talking about Nick. I asked if she knew him. She did not, but some day she hoped she could meet him.
We have another Russian born success story at Job Corps. However, her allegiance is totally to the U.S. now. She does not look back to the people of the country where she was born.
The Russian students, who still have some kind of tie to Russia, are relating to Nick's story. Why he ended up in an orphanage, what life was like there, his adoption that brought him to the U.S. and his transformation to this point.
Students from different cultures appear to need someone from their own culture as an example to follow.
Thank you for listening to the spirit and adopting him. I have seen for some time he has a life-long mission that God sent him to do that he is rising to meet. He needed you to get him to this country. The young lady I talked with stated children are usually not adopted once they turn 12. You have truly been an "instrument" in God's hands.
