this will be a big week

Here it is, Sunday night, and I'm just settling in front of my laptop. Tonight is "book night'....I'll revisit some chapters and make some more edits on my "Fresh Paint, an Adoption Memoir" story. I was planning on working on it earlier today, but Kevin and Craig had their big basketball game at school. They both played on opposite teams and guarded each other..it was great to watch all those 3rd and 4th graders trying to dribble and shoot. Big fun for them, and for us parents as we watched from the stands....
Tomorrow is Opening Day at Comerica Park. I'm beyond excited about singing...it's supposed to be 61 degrees....YES!! Perfect weather to wear that dress I borrowed from my sister Lani. Jeff and I will be there for the whole game, since I am singing for the 7th inning as well. My older kids are going to try to listen from school.
Today, Irene, Jeanette and I went to a really cool church in Trenton called Southpointe. It was nice to experience something new Spiritually with them. I said a special prayer for their trip.
They are leaving for Russia on April 5th. This is a very important trip for them because they will revisit their old lives, in the orphanage, and in their home towns. Irene is looking for her birthmother and Jeanette is looking for an older brother she never knew. They will be staying with Olga Spachil, our dear friend and their angel who helped them to be adopted. She has a ministry that supports the needs of Russian orphans....she is my hero and I am so grateful to her for allowing my girls to stay with her and help her. They will be safe with her, and she will see to it that they get the closure they need to move on in their adult lives. I am very happy that Jeff and I could give them this trip. It will be an emotional journey for them, but I believe they will grow as women. They are ready. It will be hard to say goodbye to them, but I know they will be back. It's important that they go alone, without us, so they can experience everything without hesitation. I really want them to find what they are looking for, because I love them so much.
On Good Friday, I'll be at Rory's church with Doug and Tony, singing a couple songs from our "Spirit" cd. I'm looking forward to that. I miss being in that circle. Doug and I were just talking about that the other day, how much we miss "the hang". It's nice to be in a group where you can just be...
Next week, the rest of our family will be visiting Nana and Papa Adams down in Florida next week. Of course, we are driving down in the big van. It will be easier with only 6 kids in the car, but I'm still trying to talk Jeff into not driving straight thru...I would LOVE to stay at a hotel in Atlanta so we can be at least a little less wacked out when we arrive. Our house will be occupied by my brother and any of his friends while we are gone. The hot tub is open, but enter at your own risk, Mike!
Meanwhile, I'll be getting together to further develop my song "Fresh Paint" and also rehearsing for some guitar gigs I have in April and May.
Dan turns 14 two days after we return...I still need to get to his birthday list.
Yes, it will be a big week. I am very blessed to be able to say that...
