I can't believe the stuff I'm doing...and the Tigers called.

On New Year's Eve, I set some goals for 2007. I can't believe it's March and I'm still on track. After all of my responsibilities with the family and house are taken care of, I'm achieving some things for ME and it feels good.
Here's my latest stuff so far:
1. I'm one week away from taking the national written and practical exam for certification as a personal trainer. I've been taking a health fitness trainer class at the community college for the last 5 weeks...it has challenged my brain, but in a good sense. Since I've been working out 6 days a week for two years...now I understand which muscles are working. In a gym, I know how to use those machines that used to be intimidating, and I know the proper form for free weight exercises. I have been developing programs for cardio, endurance, and strength training. I can't wait to help people get healthy, especially my friends and family. I'm excited about this new career path. It'll be fun. I am SO digging the BALL! It's an awesome exercise tool.
2. My Christmas single "All About Love" is on it's way to my front door from the replication company. I had been working on the redo of my original recording from 1996 all last year. In January, I went to Nashville for the final mix done by one of the best engineers on music row. It's finally DONE and I can't wait to get my product this month! There will most likely be a page on my website devoted to the story of the song and all that I went thru to get the redo radio-ready. It is a huge achievement for me to have accomplished this. The song is my best work so far, and I'm proud of it.
3. My book is going well. "Fresh Paint, an Adoption Memoir" is still in my computer and I visit each chapter for edits usually once a week, when I have time. The story is about my experience of adopting Kevin and Craig from Russia when they were babies. It's not the nuts and bolts of the process, but a look into how I felt as I went thru the process of bonding with them from the early stages of the decision to coming home with them on the plane. Writing the book has made me cry several times as I remember the moments and all of the firsts I experienced with these two. I am also taking the opportunity to get some help from some of my musical friends in the remake of my original song "Fresh Paint" which will be included in the back of the book. I am hoping to get the song re-recorded and finished by May and the book completed by August. (that's my plan, anyway). I'm sure there will be another page on my site devoted to the book (with excerps) this summer once it gets close to completion.
4. My guitar playing is therapeutic for me, I wish I had more time to practice. I have a plan for a new business that I will launch this summer (one of my 2007 goals). I already know some cool songs and although it's a slow process, I'm really digging that I can play simple stuff to accompany myself. I feel like a first grader with this instrument, but I figure that I need to start somewhere. It's slowly coming along. I have good days and bad days with it, but I'm not giving up.
5. I am hosting a local TV show on Monroe Cable called "Education Focus". I have not seen it yet (since we don't get cable), but it's been fun to do more on camera work. I usually tape once a month. It's been good for me to interview people who are directly involved with educating kids in my community. Interesting stuff. One of these days, I'll get a dvd of past shows so I can cringe at all my mistakes....I'm my own worst critic.
6. Oh yeah, the Tigers called me today. (smiles) I'll be singing the anthem at the 2nd game of the season this April 4th at 1:05pm against Toronto. I've done the 2nd game for at least 10 years in a row now. I'm SO looking forward to another great year with my favorite team. I'll be sure and wink at the end of the song as always. And, I'll be wearing my heavy parka since it'll be APRIL in DETROIT...BRRRR...
Family is fine as I write this. All is well.
March Madness? March Mayhem? I think not... how about? Marvelous March
quote for the day:
"The key to happiness is having dreams. The key to success is making them come true."
(I don't know who said this, but it's cool)
